Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Effective: June 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ambient (the “App”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Ambient mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Ambient Social, Inc., located at 251 Little Falls Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808, USA.

If you have questions, contact us at privacy@ambientsocial.com.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, display name, and an authentication credential (either a password hash or a federated identifier from Apple or Google). You may optionally add a profile photo and bio.

1.2 Location

With your permission, the App accesses your device’s approximate or precise location to power restaurant discovery, “near me” results, and map views. We use location at the moment of search and do not continuously track location in the background. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings; the App will fall back to a default city center.

1.3 Search history and AI prompts

We store the natural-language queries you submit to the AI search feature, the structured filters extracted from those queries, and the result sets returned. This is used to improve relevance, debug ranking issues, and prevent abuse. We do not use your personal queries to train third-party foundation models.

1.4 Saved and “tried” restaurants, photos, and notes

Restaurants you save, mark as tried, rate, or annotate are stored on our servers along with any photos you upload. Photos are hosted on our object storage and served via a public URL bound to a non-guessable path.

1.5 Device and push tokens

To deliver notifications about your bookings, AI search completions, and social interactions, we collect an Apple Push Notification (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token, your device model, and OS version. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings; we will stop sending pushes within minutes.

1.6 Usage and diagnostics

We log API requests (timestamps, endpoint, status code, anonymized IP) for security, rate limiting, and troubleshooting. Crash and error reports may include stack traces and the screen the error occurred on; they do not contain message bodies or photos.

2. How we use information

3. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:

4. Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records, abuse evidence). Backups expire within 90 days.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@ambientsocial.com from the address associated with your account. We respond within 30 days.

6. Children

Ambient is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We encrypt data in transit using TLS and at rest where supported by our providers. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to enable platform-level protections on your device.

8. International transfers

Our servers are located in Europe (Ukraine). If you access the Service from another country, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed there.

9. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
